Gulab rut mein haseen chehro humein batao udaas kyo ho?
Dilon pe beeti sari kahaniyan sab sunao udaas kyo ho?

Jo ranjishen dil mein pal rahi hain munafqat mein wo dhal rahi hain
Bhula ke shikwey mita ke doori galay lagao udaas kyo ho?

Kitab-e-dil ke tamaam safhon pe hum ne likha hai lafz mohabbat ka
Humein hamari wafa ke aagey saza sunao udaas kyo ho?

Mohabbaton ka ho jis mein shamil saroor saqi wo maey pilao
Sharab khaney mein ghup andhera hai dil jalao udaas kyo ho?

Fareb khana bhi mashgala hai fareb dena bhi mashgala hai
To dil ke lutney pe kaisa matam khushi manao udaas kyo ho?

Wo gulaab hathon mein le ke aana wo baat karna wo muskurana
Purani yaadon mein kho ke maazi ka lutf uthao udaas kyo ho?

Dukhon ke mausam ke baad sukh bhi zaroor aaye ga dekh lena
Tamaam khadshey mita ke dil se hanso hansao udaas kyo ho?

Nahi rachti he tumhare chare per ye udaasi
ab to muskurao udaas kyo ho?
